I hope that you all had a wonderful New Year's Eve last night. We had a quiet evening at home with some great food, martinis, DVDs, games, the fireplace, the countdown, and champagne. The perfect way to end a hectic 2007 and welcome in what promises to be an even more hectic year!

Like many folk I have set some resolutions for myself (and not by using the cute widget above).

These are my goals for 2008:

To visit more wineries in Ontario, Paso Robles, and Italy.

To explore Savannah, Georgia.

To laugh and carry on on Montisi.

To glide in a balloon over the fields, forests, and vineyards of Tuscany.

To visit the capital of slow food.

To drink a glass (or case, whatever might be best) of brachetto in Piedmont.

To ride a bicycle along the walls of Lucca.

To balance work and life better.

To continue the shrinkage of my waistline (42 - 40 in 2006, 40 - 38 in 2007, can I make 36?)

To explore more local food and produce.

To pet the cats more.

To learn to turn off my blackberry.

My word, it will be a full year. I hope that your 2008 is full of memories and laughter!

Hi Jerry, hope you acheive your goals in 2008. Especially drinking the (case of) wine..! Happy New Year.

Thanks Paul - I'm working away on them as I type! LOL

Happy New Year Jerry!

How refreshing, Jerry. I love your resolutions to travel, indulge and imbibe more in the new year. There are too many folks with the same old January proclamations of donating more to worthwhile charities at home and abroad, becoming more spiritual, being a better friend, and greening the planet.

What boring saps. Brava to you for admitting that less is not more. And who knows? Perhaps you will surpass Palma for exhibitions of outlandish spending and fat laden recipes this year.

PC (JC's twin)

To you as well Jenn!

PC (AKA Bags Packed) - it is good to be refreshing. You should try it more. Perhaps if you travelled a wee bit more and smiled once in awhile you might be a happier, more spiritual soul as well.

I actually do many of the things you've listed already - why resolve to do something that you are already doing?

Once again, how nice.

Oh Jerry, I am sure we can top last year's butter/fat content in our recipes, as well as spend hoards of money TOGETHER and separately in Paso, Savannah AND Italy! It sure will be fun to try!

How sad that "PC" now wants my initials as well as to be a triplet! I think I will go and blog MY New Year's resolutions!

You and your twin Palma are merely southerners at heart... a lot like Paula Dean- now that I think about it.
'Less is not more????'

Palma and Sandi - I plan on getting in touch with my 'inner southerner' this year. The southern folk I have met are such a joy to be around that I want to join the club.

Re less is more - the whole point was about balance, turning down work and enjoying life more at a quiet, liesurly pace. Apparently nuances are lost on some.
