Can it be that it was ten years ago that we all stayed up late to see if the world would come to an end as the computers of the world grappled with a 2 in the thousand's place column? I remember watching the new year in New Zealand just to make sure that the world wasn't ending! LOL
It seems as if the decade seems to have flown past. It has had its ups and downs but certainly things look more positive as we move into the second decade of the 2000s than when we marched into the first!
2009 has been a good year for us. I know for many people it has presented challenges but for us it has been good . . . with a few exceptions. Unfortunately we said goodbye to three family members this year which is never an easy thing to do.
At the same time Dante arrived and wedged his way into the household routine with a vengeance.
We won a cruise of the Greek islands . . . there were trips to Maine, California, Pennsylvania, and Greece in 2009 . . . ahh the memories.
We had the odd health scare but nothing too serious.
I stuck to my resolutions and managed to make visiting the gym a somewhat regular event. I have generally stayed out of fast food restaurants (with the odd slip up) over the past year, thereby contributing the the financial decline of McDonalds. All of the exercise and more healthy eating helped me dropped 65 pounds.
The only real downside to the year continues to be the embarrassment of Stephen Harper as Prime Minister and the rest of the MPs in his government. Canadians have to hold their heads in shame as this group of idiots ride roughshod over democracy in Ottawa, ignore human rights, work hard to destroy any hope of global climate change, and continue to help the rich get richer and the poor get - actually, they don't do anything for the poor because they don't much care about them.
We're going to have to do something about those pinheads in 2010!
The cool guys at JibJab have created a year in review video which, while US-centric is still funny! Enjoy
On to 2010 - may the new year be full of peace, health, happiness, joy and prosperity!
