Yesterday I started off my long weekend by working on a vacation day. It became 1/2 of a vacation day. ARGH
When I got back home I decided to get my hair cut.
I used to be quite vain about my hair, spending a chunk of cash to get it styled every month. Then I lost it (my hair, that is).
Alison, my hairstylist used to assure me that it wasn't going (probably for fear of seeing her monthly income reduced) but I knew otherwise. When it got to the point that my pink scalp was shining through I started going to a cheap place in the mall where they could just whack it off and spike up the few remaining hairs.
The problem with these cheapo hair places is that the choppers (stylist being far too generous a word) are often folk who weren't able to cut it in 'hair dressing college'. The above mentioned Alison had been trained at Vidal Sasson in London. The folk who use the clippers to shear my head were likely trained at 'Manny's Backdoor Hair College'. Anyway, I digress. Where was I?
Oh yes, I decided to get my hair cut (Back on track - woo hoo.)
After 10 minutes of clipping I was ready to pay. The girl who had cut my hair was ringing up my charge looked at me and said: ' are you a senior?'
ARGH
The senior discount age at this establishment is 60.
ARGH
I am 42 (soon to be 43 - gifts and cards are welcome on July 14th). I have a long way to go until I am 60!!!!
Now in fairness, she appeared to be on the lower end of the IQ scale (is there a politically correct way to say that I wonder?) but really!!!!!
When I got home I immediately made myself a martini and drowned my sorrows.
But Jerry--60 ain't so bad! Unless you're 43.

I look forward to being 60 Jane - retired, house paid off, travelling whenever and where ever I want . . . but you are so right - not at 43! LOL

What a stupid thing to ask you!! Shame on her!! I used to drive to Michigan to get my hair done. I spent almost 450.00 last year on my hair alone. I've ended that practice and found a place in my small town. I can barely tell the difference.

That is a long way to go for getting your hair done! One of the 'jpoys' of rural live in SW ONtario has got to be the difficulty of finding services.
