Jerry, What a beautiful cake and such a lovely description of your fall weather. Your mom must be a wonderful woman to have raised such a sensitive loving son. I guess you could say on a weekend such as you've just had, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree!" lol Happy autumn days to you and yours!


Barb - the cake tasted even better than it looked. It was a butter spongey cake with the apples on top. YUM

I have to admit - I sure lucked out in the mom department. Given the challenges she had when she and my dad split up she did a fine job!

As soon as the weather cools down? Just how hot is it there in Palm Desert anyway?

Youll enjoy it. I would suggest dusting the raisins with flour so they don't sink in the batter. Other than that it was an easy recipe to follow.
