I see that I have been slipping and have not posted a martini recipe for awhile. Now, before the 'martini purists' thrash me about the head, I do understand that there is only one real martini (perhaps two if you can agree upon a vodka or gin version) and that the rest are just cocktails served in a martini glass. There, no need to be critical.
The whole world has been trending to a more expansive definition of the word martini and who am I to go against that flow?
This is a quick and easy drink to pull together. If I were wanting to impress folk, I would rim the glass with melted chocolate or drizzle melted chocolate on the inside of the glass in an interesting pattern. Because I was just pulling these together for Paul and I I didn't much care about the presentation.
Milky Way Martini recipe
2 oz vanilla vodka
2 oz chocolate liqueur
1 oz Irish creamCombine all ingredients, mix, and serve in a cocktail glass without ice.
That looks very intriguing, Jerry. It caught my eye because I was in Hy's lounge last Thursday (perhaps you know it?) and asked for a limoncello. It was about 10 p.m., quiet, so the waitress (who I see there fairly often; too often?) decided she wanted to experiment. She brought me my limoncello, but also whipped some up into a really great "martini" I think she said that she mixed an ounce or two of limoncello with a splash of vodka and some soda water, and served it to me over ice. Very refreshing, although I was wobbling seriously when I left!

Sandra - that drink from Hy's sounds interesting. I haven't been there myself but should make an effort one of these days. We had a great drink with limoncello at Barolo restaurant in Pacifica on Sunday. It was called an Italian Sun and made with
pinot grigio, limoncello, amaretto, fresh lemon. WOW If I hadn't had to drive back over the mountains to our hotel I could have downed many.
Kate - you're welcome. Thanks for the reminder about Shrove Tuesday, Now I know what I'm having for dinner tonight!
