Barb sent a message indicating that the good folks at easycar.com are running another travel photo contest. The picture we entered last year came in 12th out of 467 photos. Well, I am at it again! (Catherine is wincing in the corner at the thought of six months of daily photo contest announcements!) This time I've entered four photos although only three are currently up on the site.
Last year Barb came in first with her wonderful picture of a field of sunflowers.
The first photo is a photo I took in Chicago at the Millennium Park. Cloud Gate is a public sculpture by British artist Anish Kapoor. Nicknamed "The Bean" for obvious reasons, Cloud Gate's exterior consists of 168 highly polished stainless steel plates. The sculpture's highly polished exterior reflects and transforms the city's skyline.

The second photo is from our trip to Italy this spring. When we were in Siena we visited the Torre del Mangia which is the tower that overlooks the campo. Built in 1325-1348, it is located adiacent to the Palazzo Pubblico (Town Hall). When built it was one of the tallest non-sectarian towers in mediaeval Italy. At 102 m, it is now second only to Cremona's Torrazzo. We climbed the tower back in 2006. This year it was far too hot for such activity, instead we snapped some pictures and visited the adjacent Civic Museum.

And finally, a close up I took of the poppies in Tuscany is currently languishing in last place. ARGH Everywhere you drive among the Tuscan hills in late May, early June the fields of poppies cut a swathe of picturesque colour and strike a chord of nostalgia in those from countries where agriculture is now dominated by herbicides and pesticides. I understand that they were particularly brilliant this year because of the rain - whatever the cause, I was 'forced' to pull over on numerous occasions to snap photos.
You can vote for this photo by clicking here. The poor thing is sad being in last place - it requires lots of '10' votes.
You can only vote once from any given IP address - this means you can vote once from both home and work! If you have two computers networked at home, you can only vote on one of them however. If you have a Blackberry that is a third vote.
Hi Jerry, I just voted for my favorite one of yours! Good luck, I'm sure you'll be among the top. Personally I love the bean but the other two evoke fond memories. The colors of those poppies are amazing. Happy July!

I voted (from work), but if you want me to vote from a different computer, you have to promise not to flog the picture contest at the BEGINNING of your blog every day for the next six months, okay?

I particularly loved the photos of the tower in Siena and of the poppies...so I voted for both! Best of luck with the contest.
