This week's PhotoHunt theme is "creamy".
Boom.
That was the sound of my head exploding! I have a gazillion of pictures for this theme - ice cream, gelato, cheese, cheesecake, cream sauces . . . I am a cook . . . The challenge is I don't know where to stop! Heck, in the past week I have made two batches of ice cream using 4 cups of heavy cream, 2 cups of milk, and 11 egg yolks - lots of good creaminess there!
What to select . . . what to select . . .
Anyone who has had real gelato in Italy knows that there are few things in this world as creamy . . . and delicious! Last spring we arrived in Torino after some 20 hours of traveling. I was tired and feeling sick. Nonetheless I pulled it together and we headed off to explore a bit. As we wandered we saw a pastry shop selling gelato - seconds later we were in line - mere minutes later we are across the street, sitting on the steps of a church, enjoying the perfect delicious, creamy gelato! Ahhhhh . . . Italy!

I haven't tried making my own ice cream. That would be an achievement. :)

I'm definitely going to have to have ice cream tonight. These pictures are making me hungry.

Upon arriving on Italian soil, my husband first looks for the bar to have that first cup of espresso while I look for the gelateria. Glad to see I'm not alone.
I haven't yet used the ice cream maker this summer. I'm afraid that once I start, there's no stopping until fall.
Happy summer solstice!

You are so right... Ben & Jerry, Bluebell, any ice cream in the US.. even that made here in the local dairy... none is as creamy as Italian gelato... sigh.
Mine is up here.

Lynn - making your own ice cream is not challenging at all . . . you result is incredible.
Sandi - that sounds like an amazing flavour! I am jealous.
Me too Cindy - just posting about it made the cravings start . . .
I haven't had a chance to visit the blogs yet Marta - I can only imagine what I will find there. Perhaps I should eat breakfast first. *smile*
Thanks Maria - we've had the ice cream maker plugged in a few times. I hardly every buy ice cream any more when the homemade version is so much better (and easy).
That is exactly what it was luna!
I can't wait to pop over and check it out Candi!
I'm on my way srp and kaye!
Thanks for stopping by on photohunt Saturday y'all!

Nothing better than gelato! I have to say that I am enjoying all these food pics (can't gain weight from looking, can you?).

I almost posted a gelato shot, too. Have a great vacation, Jerry.

Hi Jerry, excellent take on this week's theme! :) I had to giggle at your gelato story because I find myself doing the same thing. There's nothing like a nice cup of gelato to perk me right up after a painfully long flight.
Have a great Sunday evening.

Let's hope not Annie!
Thanks Jan - we're looking forward to it.
Kathy - some folks take drugs to get through it - I'll go with a cup of gelato!
