Thank goodness we finally got some summer-like weather here last week - if there had been more rain and cool weather I thought that my head would explode. Of course, after two days of heat and humidity I was whining about THAT. This just proves the oft quoted commented about me 'there is no pleasing Jerry'. Those who quote this would be right when it comes to the weather.
Anyway. This did not start out as a critical discourse on my fickle weather views.
As we were sweltering in the humidity that reminded us of our visit to Savannah last spring, Paul and I craved a cool beverage.
We ended up with this drink suggestion that was made by the LCBO - Ontario's amazing booze monopoly. Generally I abhor a monopoly but I'll fight any attempt to destroy THIS one!
This drink was amazing - my favourite rum mixed with OJ and cranberry juice. I do believe that with all of this juice it qualifies as a health beverage. If you're searching for something to help you beat the heat . . . look no further!
Enjoy!
Summer Breeze
1 1/2 oz Appleton Estate V/X Jamaica Rum
3 oz cranberry juice
1 oz orange juiceFill a shaker with ice.
Measure rum, cranberry juice, and orange juice into the shaker.
Shake and pour over ice into glasses.
Garnish with a wedge of lime.
If I buy a second mower, would you like to join me next year 'mowing for Marys'?
