Sometimes I think that I am getting like the chicken above - everyone around me is despicable but clearly I am wonderful. Lately the list of people who annoy the heck out of me just gets longer and longer. I wonder if I am losing my tolerance?
It may be my cold speaking, it may be a need for a vacation, or it may just be because I'm getting old but lord, some people are bugging the heck out of me.
It started this afternoon, I was on the train heading east towards home and my colleague was on a different train heading west to her home. We started to make a list of those around us who were annoying us.
This is a partial example (some were rude and I can't post them!)
- People who talk loudly on their cell phones - no one cares about last night's date. Shut up about it already.
- People who eat smelly food - this has become far more pronounced in recent years as I have been dieting. When I'm hungry and you pull out a Big Mac and fries I may have to kill you.
- People who fall asleep and drool.
- People who invade my personal space. I'll admit to having issues with being touched. This is by people I know and like. I sure don't like being nudged, grazed, or caressed by a stranger.
- People wearing headphones who are playing their music so loudly that I am forced to listen to it. Headphones are so that others don't have to listen to your crap noise masquerading as music.
- People who talk loudly with friends while I'm trying to reach some sort of zen place. The train is a place for peace. People have worked hard all day. Well, some of us have worked. Allow us to travel home in quiet.
- People who wear excessive perfume - or any other odoriferousness for that matter.
- People who insist on carrying large objects onto the train with them. The worst example of this was the gentleman who brought a motorcycle on to the train with him a few weeks ago. How is THAT even allowed?
- People who feel their bag needs a seat while there are people who are standing. Did your bag PAY for a ticket?
- Children who sing. I'm showing my age here but when I was a wee lad children were silent around adults unless we were spoken to. Shut up already about the Itsy Bitsy Spider.
I worry about myself. If I am this cranky to be around at 45 just imagine the nightmare I shall be at 90? I'm not sure the world is ready for that.
I am too young to have reached curmudgeon status.
The truly scary thing is that we could have gone on and on . . . I am sure if I put my mind to it there would be 100 'people who bug me' on my list in no time. This is just train people - I haven't gotten started on theatre people, bank people, grocery store people, neighbours, other drivers . . .
Yes, I need a vacation!
I'm ashamed to admit it but I feel some sympathy for this guy:
A Chinese university student fed up with his roommate's snoring has confessed to stabbing him to death in the middle of the night.
This post really made me laugh out loud. You made some great points but really too funny to contain myself! Thanks for the huge laugh.

OK Jerry, I really don't think you can blame this one on age. I went to university with you and tolerant would not be a word I would have used to describe you. Nope, not in the least. You were though, as you still are, a highly amusing faultfinder and I will continue to giggle at your grumblings.

Sounds like the day -- or week -- that I had, too! I'm really getting fed up with the cellphone thing, suddenly a lot of people are bringing them into the gym! Yeesh!!!

Are you secretly practicing your standup routine on us? Would you like us to all check our local Comedy Clubs to find out which night is open mic night?
And by the way...I soooo agree with you on number 5. But I can tolerate them. I just think of how my Miracle Ear stock will be going up as these stupid punks age and loose their hearing.

God, I pray I don't snore in Bologna. I will try to find some new ways to annoy you.

Are we related?

Hmmm - so it is good for me to be cranky?
I try to be positive (a constant struggle) but every now and then this bile must spill forth! LOL
I like the faultfinder label laura - I should add that to my job title!
Palma - the odds of me being annoyed in Italy are rather slim indeed. You will eb safe!
