This week's Photo Hunt theme is open. Having recently returned from a trip to Italy I'm continuing to relive my trip through photo hunt.
This week's shot was taken from the campanile on Isola di Si Giorgio di Maggiore in Venice. As usual the crowds from the cruise ships made the main square of San Marco unbearable so we escaped the hoardes for the peacefulness of San Giorgio. When we took the elevator to the top of the campanile we were treated to a wonderful view south to the Lido and then the open waters of the Adriatic Sea.
Lots of the slow travel community members also photo hunt when they aren't traveling. You can find their posts by clicking the links below.

Hi Jerry, that is a great photo and wonderful take on this week's theme. I missed out on visiting Isola di Si Giorgio di Maggiore during my 2007 visit to Venice and regret it now. Have a great weekend.

Beautiful view! I felt the same way when I escaped for the peacefulness of San Giorgio the last time I was there. Was there a guy reading a book in the elevator when you rode it?

I agree - the open sky and open sea - sigh!
Thanks for popping by on photo hunt Saturday.
