Friday marked the anniversary of the day mutual friends 'forced' Paul and I to meet one another. . . we've been going strong for 14 years. We decided to wait a bit to celebrate the anniversary - a good thing since I ended up in a particularly ugly mood on Friday and we were both super exhausted from the week at work.
Yesterday was nice - most of the neighbourhood seems to have gone away - so it's been VERY quiet around here. We went for a HUGE walk, did some gardening, napped, and cooked a big dinner.
Paul went into the cellar and found a bottle of 1998 Benziger Merlot - figuring it commemorated the year we met it was selected the 'celebration wine'.
This wine had aged beautifully - it was as smooth as silk!
We started off with a caprese salad made with heirloom tomatoes, burratta, and the amazing olive oil from Sant'Antonio in Tuscany.
The main course was a fennel crusted rack of pork, grilled fingerling potatoes, and green beans with tarragon.
We finished off with a vanilla panna cotta with candied rhubarb.
What a beautiful meal and a wonderful celebration. Happy Anniversary to you both!!!

Congratulations and here is to many more years together. That is so cool that you had a bottle of wine from the same year to celebrate. And the food looks great also.

Happy Anniversary! What a great meal to celebrate. I am trying to remember where we were at 14 years together and it was just before Matt and Alex arrived, so our first 14 years were rather peaceful...lol...and then the boys arrived! lol 14 years is a good time!! We will celebrate 34 on June 2nd...wow, where does this time go so quickly? Good years, all of them! And you will be saying the same in 20 years as well! :-)
