After the horrific terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday night the world was quick to react. As the Eiffel tower went dark to honour the victims monuments around the world were lite with the red, white, and blue of France.
People around the planet took whatever opportunity they could to show support for the people of Paris. The gestures were big or small but they were poignant and heartfelt.
What does it say about us as a global civilization that there was no similar response to the terror attacks days earlier in Beirut and Baghdad? What does it say when the day after the Paris attacks 150 people were killed by terrorists at a university in Kenya and the world seemed to look away; no one changed their facebook profile to the red, black, green, and white of the Kenyan flag.
Speaking of facebook. They set up a feature that allowed people in Paris to mark themselves as 'safe' so friends an family would know they were OK. There was no similar feature for Beirut or Baghdad.
It is a tough thing to contemplate but it appears, when looking at the evidence, that terrorist attacks in the west . . . targeting a predominantly while population get plenty of focus.
What does it say about our global community?
Simple people need to say "good bye" to religion and live as "spiritual beings"
