In the summer of 2019 I had the opportunity to travel to Thailand to join 5000 teacher unionists from around the planet at the Education International World Congress. It was a brilliant experience.
When you travel that far for a big meeting you build in some vacation time.
Back in the before times and prior to retirements I always travelled somewhere in Canada at this time of the year to meet up with the senior education union leaders from across the country. It was a time to share 'war' stories, seek guidance, and discuss the common issues of the day.
The Manitoba labour groups were celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Winnipeg General Strike and the Manitoba Teachers' Society was celebrating its 100th anniversary so there was a lot of celebrating.
9 years ago we offered courses for teachers in France and Italy. The first time we offered the courses I was able to travel and spend some time with each of the groups and spend some time auditing things.
